Jodie New hair cutReality can bite so hard at times that the pain never really goes away. Maybe that’s a good thing, that is how we learn. Me being the Don Quixote I am had to pull my head out of the wind mills and face the fact that life is not like a Carey Grant movie, Doris Day does leave, and love is having to say your sorry.

I am not going to bore you with my heart ache, but I would like to propose some questions.

Why does love end, does it really end but evolve into another shape that we pull out during times of convenience, like holidays, or does it just linger upon the air like Frebreze, there but not really, it only slightly covers up the unpleasantness, sweetening the wound?

As I researched to find some wise words to share with you I came across an unlikely source of insight, Marilyn Monroe stated, “I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

As I get older, my heart looking like the surface of the moon, holes left from love gone, I question the romantic ideology of one love, a soul mate. I am a breed of ego and romanticism,  I find it hard to completely let go of the traditional views regarding relationships, and explore the thought of a polyamorous relationship. But, I tend to  lean more in the thought of realizing that every love whether it is for a night, a month or for years, should be given complete abandonment, to fall and fill up with the passion, the eros, the curling of the toes, and do not forget to embrace the moment you hit the ground. Love is a cycle, we sit beside the phone waiting for the call, wondering if in that book of love what are the rules in how often we can call, and the proper time line of when to call, to sitting by the phone wanting to make the call, wanting to hear her voice, knowing to hear her voice would only be like salt in the wound, causing the regurgitation of words that are filled with anger. When Madonna left Guy Richie she was asked what happened and with her head held high she simply stated, ” it ran its course”.

There are a few journeys in love I would have liked to have ridden a little longer, but like James Dean, he stayed a mystery, he died young, so as in love, the young love hurts more, it will forever be a mystery.. “what if”.

With Burt Bacharach playing in the back ground ” I’ll never fall in love again” I type out these words, knowing there is a smile out there that is going to capture my heart, she is going to look into my eyes, and the reflection of first want will wash away all sensibility, and Don Quixote will be back on the horse.

Well said Don Q. Like those you’ve quoted in this article, I believe that in life we all are searching for love. Perhaps we had love once and for whatever reason let it slip away or perhaps we are chasing the romantism of love. Either way life wouldn’t be enjoyable without the cycles of love. Just think sometimes when relationships end, you are in preparation for the new love.

Unfortunately, for all of us, there is no guarantee of Life, Love or The Pursuit of Happiness. And no matter how hard we may try to not only be in love, but stay in love, love sometimes will not stay in love with us.
Some of the most painful times of my life have been over love and yet, I wouldn’t have it any other way. For each love gained and lost, we become richer in spirit, heart and soul but Lord, is it painful…
    Another piece masterfully done, Jody…

    Much Love,
