July Lunch

Democratic Women Luncheon

Lunch choices include either Beef with Broccoli, Lemon Chicken, or Sautéed Assorted Vegetables.  Lunch includes Spring Roll, Egg Flower Soup, Fried or Steamed Rice.

$20 members / $25 non-members

July’s program will be a roundtable discussion on the upcoming local elections and what you can do to make a difference!

Members and guests will assemble Military Care Packages and discuss upcoming events and activities.

Last three Weeks!

Items for Military Care Packages may be delivered at the monthly Luncheon or Evening events.

Below is a list of items that have been requested from our Soldiers and Marines.

Donations will also be accepted to assist with postage charges.

Food:

1 Package Steakhouse tenders ( like jerky but softer)

1 Package Tyson Chicken pieces

1 Package Starkist tuna in water

1 Package Hormel Chicken and Dumplings

1 Package Hormel Roast Beef, Potatoes and gravy

1 Package Hormel Turkey and stuffing

1 Can Sardines in Mustard sauce

1 Can Starkist Tuna salad and crackers

3 Boxes  Tropical Juice

2 Packages  Capri Sun Juice

1 Package Gator aid mix (pitcher size)

2 Chocolate Pudding snacks

2 Vanilla Pudding snacks

2 Fruit and nut bars

2 Package Cheese nips

1 Package Chips Ahoy cookies

1 Package Ritz Bitz

2 Boxes Raisins

1 Cup Pineapple bits in juice

Plastic fork and spoon and napkins…and two ziplock bags….

The other items that we can also gather to send along with the main items:

Hygiene and Comfort:

-Ziploc bags

-dental floss

-toiletries – travel or sample sizes:
razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower soap, shampoo and conditioner,
deodorant and anything else you can think of
-sun block

-2 flea collars — one for each of their ankles due to the sand fleas
-small pocket-size Kleenex

-brushes and combs
-antibacterial hand wash
-baby powder
-bar soap — little ones
-mouth wash/spray
-Q-tips travel size
-toilet paper

-wash cloths
Aches and Pains:
-Alka-Seltzer, Tums, etc.
-cough drops
-cold & flu hot liquid pack
-anti-itch cream

-medicated powder

-foot powder

-Band-aids — regular, fun ones or the stretchy kind — in assorted sizes
-Band-aids — butterfly-type to hold cuts together

-gauze and tape

-anti-bacterial cream

-Ace bandages

-Tylenol samples and sample sizes of other pain relievers like aspirin and ibuprofen
-Visine

-cold packs

Comforts:

-manicure sets

-baby wipes (for between-shower fresh-ups when a bathroom is not available)

-lip balm

-stain remover stick

-hand cream
-Lotion

-skin so soft (Avon) for bugs
-Odor Eater in-soles for boots

-gel insoles for boots
-dryer sheets (to make things smell better)
-white socks

-Listerine sheets

-small sewing kits — needles, needle threader, strong thread, buttons

-hair accessories for the women — clips, elastic bands, bobby pins

-personal message(s) from family and friends
-clothespins

-black sunglasses (no markings)

-notes of encouragement
-photos from home

-masking tape or duct tape

-book light

-brain teasers

-cube games

-games in travel sizes- playing cards, dominoes, Yahtzee, Uno, cribbage, board games such as chess and checkers

-pantyhose to put over weapons to keep them sand free
-flashlights with extra batteries

WHAT NOT TO SEND:

-NO PORK
-NO CHOCOLATE (melts)
-NO TOBACCO
-NO RAW FRUIT OR UNCOOKED MEAT
-NO HOMEMADE COOKIES
-NO GLASS OR GLASS BOTTLES
-NO RELIGIOUS MATERIAL IN BULK

Prohibitions
While there are specific restrictions for each five-digit military post office ZIP Code (APO/FPO), generally speaking, it is prohibited to mail the following to this region:
• obscene articles (prints, paintings, cards, films, videotapes, etc.)
• pork or pork by-products like fried pork rinds
• any matter depicting nude or semi nude persons, pornographic or sexual items, or non-authorized political materials. Although religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith are prohibited in bulk quantities, items for the personal use of the addressee are permissible.

Please note that all food items must be sealed by the manufacturer.

Don’t forget that Chocolate will melt! You can still send it, but wrap it accordingly!
