WRITERS GUIDELINES FOR StandUpShowUp.com
1. Login to: www.StandUpShowUp.com/wp-admin to post your articles.
2. User ID: First Initial and last Name with the First Initial and First letter of the last name capitalized so for example: Jane Fonda’s UID is: JFonda
3. Password will be e-mailed under separate cover.
4. Click on “Posts”, “Add New”
5. I will assign all writers the “Author” role in WordPress (WP). This gives you the capability to add, edit and delete posts. We will go through it together over the phone or in person. If you want more detail review the following but please don’t review until after we’ve gone through it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Writing_Posts
6. WARNING! Do not cut and paste your article directly from a WORD DOC as it will insert weird characters into your story and cause Internet Explorer to see errors instead of the article. I recommend you cut and paste your article into NOTEPAD then cut and paste into your WP post.
7. At a minimum for each post you need to enter a: title, the article, photo, category, enter tags (keywords). Don’t forget your by-line just above the first line of your article.
8. Writers must have their stories reviewed and edited for grammar, correctness and completeness by two other people before sending to me to review for content. I will then send it back to you to post. I have one volunteer copy editor if you don’t have to friends who are English Majors or descendants of English Majors. LOL
9. Please try to post at least one photo with your post. The photo specs are 450 X 270. If you don’t know how to check that or do that and want to learn I am happy to teach you as it only takes a few minutes. If not then just e-mail me the photo. If you have more than one photo -xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
10. Your articles must be posted by the first of the month. You can actually post it anytime and schedule it to post by that date. Isn’t that cool? On the right side of the post page click the “edit” button on “publish immediately.” That you give you a drop down menu to schedule the posting for the first of the month.
11. If you have a website and a product or service to sell please get with me first and lets figure out if we can market it in your post?
12. I also need a brief bio and headshot for the “Conbutors” page.
